The ongoing war between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and President
Goodluck Jonathan took a remarkable turn yesterday during the 90th
birthday celebration of ex-leader Shehu Shagari in Sokoto, as Obasanjo
avoided the president. It was reported that Obasanjo arrived when President Goodluck Jonathan was inside Shehu Shagari’s house but refused to come out of his vehicle until Goodluck Jonathan had finished and left.
Those present could not stop laughing as the former president was
repeatedly poking his tongue at them from inside his vehicle.
Also present at the event were the former head of the interim government,
Ernest Shonekon, as well as ex-heads of state, Generals Yakubu Gowon,
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Obasanjo and Jonathan have been at loggerheads following the former’s
constant attacks on the Jonathan government.
At the celebration President Goodluck Jonathan and the All Progressives
Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd),
congratulated the former president Shagari, on his 90th birthday.
